This is Dental All-Stars, where we bring you the best in dentistry on marketing, management, and training. Hello, friends. Welcome to your weekly Motivational Moments with Eric Vickery, president of coaching at All-Star Dental Academy. We are in the middle of a series where we’re talking about leadership. And I hope that each week you’re constantly being reminded that you are a leader and remembering that the greatest leaders are heroes. So…

00:31

This week we’re on the R, so we’ve done H&E, humble and equipping, but we’re talking about both ends of the spectrum. The greatest leaders have balance in the heroes system. So today R, relational, building relationships, having fun with people, being connected with them. So your one-on-one meetings with people, when you’re with your patient, being connected with them where you’re building trust and rapport, when you’re on the phone during the great call process.

You’re engaged and you’re building rapport with them. And yet on the other side of the spectrum as a leader, you’re also firm. who you are and what you are in that relationship. So, you know, if I’m in a relationship, it’s not, hey, just treat me however you want, you know, walk all over me. We could do a deep dive into EQ anytime. I love that topic. But if you think about relationship management in the EQ system, it is a lot of verbal skill training. It’s understanding who you are as an individual, and it’s reading the room and paying attention to people, and being willing to have sometimes those tough conversations. Sometimes being willing to engage in a way that you didn’t think you had to or wanted to. I love talking with my doctors and hearing in their leadership coaching and hearing them talk about

02:27

You know, this person said this, patient or team member, I just sat down and talked with them and got clarity on it and had effective communication. So in your relationships, be firm, but have effective communication so that it’s mutual. Everything is mutual in that. I think people respect that and they value it a ton. So if you’re wanting more of this, remember we have our leadership retreat this coming January 24th and 25th in Florida. So doctors,

Firm, but yet also having fun. I’m engaged, but yet if there’s any issues, we can get clarity on it. All right guys, have a great week. We hope you enjoyed this episode of Dental All-Star.
